The CTET is divided into two distinct papers based on the level of teaching:

Paper I (For Classes I-V)

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy (30 marks)
    • Child Development (15 marks): Understanding child development during early years.
    • Concept of Inclusive Education: Addressing diverse learning needs.
    • Learning and Pedagogy (10 marks): Understanding different learning theories and methods.
  2. Language I (30 marks)
    • Language Comprehension (15 marks): Passage-based questions.
    • Pedagogy of Language Development (15 marks): Focus on language learning, teaching strategies, and challenges.
  3. Language II (30 marks)
    • Comprehension (15 marks): Passage-based questions.
    • Pedagogy of Language Development (15 marks): Focus on language teaching principles.
  4. Mathematics (30 marks)
    • Content (15 marks): Numbers, Shapes & Geometry, Measurement, etc.
    • Pedagogical Issues (15 marks): Understanding methods for teaching Mathematics.
  5. Environmental Studies (30 marks)
    • Content (15 marks): Family, Plants, Food, Shelter, Water, Travel, etc.
    • Pedagogical Issues (15 marks): Teaching Environmental Studies effectively.

Paper II (For Classes VI-VIII)

  1. Child Development and Pedagogy (30 marks)
    • Child Development (15 marks): Focus on child development during late childhood and adolescence.
    • Inclusive Education: Addressing diverse and special learning needs.
    • Learning and Pedagogy (10 marks): Theories of learning and how children learn.
  2. Language I (30 marks)
    • Same as Paper I (Language I).
  3. Language II (30 marks)
    • Same as Paper I (Language II).
  4. Mathematics and Science OR Social Studies/Social Science (60 marks)
    • Mathematics and Science (30+30 marks):
      • Mathematics: Algebra, Geometry, Mensuration, Data Handling.
      • Science: Food, Materials, The World of Living, Natural Resources, etc.
    • Social Studies/Social Science (60 marks): History, Geography, Social and Political Life.
